Built for heavy-duty Ford trucks, SUVs, and vans, it combines strength with efficiency, featuring a lock-up torque converter and an overdrive gear for better fuel economy. Its durable aluminum case early versions used cast iron tailshaft housings was engineered with multiple bolt patterns to fit small-block, big-block, and diesel engines. It comes equipped with a hydraulic system that works better with the electronic control to engage the clutches. It offers near about four forward gears ratios featuring 1st gear: 2.71:1, 2nd gear: 1.54:1, 3rd gear: 1.00:1, and 4th gear (overdrive): 0.71:1.
